Professional Development Credits towards - PDPs & CEUs A teachers is in a unique position, having a singular opportunity to help heal students.
The BodySense Method is the foundation of a healthy lifelong approach to working with the body. Based upon ancient Yoga philosophies, the Method offers alignment and breath to manage stress and allieviate pain. Educators gain insight into how to help students unlearn a lifetime of bad habits to gain focus and self-esteem. Improved posture, strength-building and body awareness lead to an overall enhancement of performance, reduction of violence and relief of the scourge of obesity. Upon completion of the Professional Educator Development Course, each graduate becomes a qualified instructor in The BodySense Method. This 10-hour course focuses on enhanced breathing, posture, sitting, walking, strength building and focus for testing. (See "About Sue" area for past presentations) For more than 45 years, Sue Luby has taught The BodySense Method to thousands of adults and children and trained countless instructors the world over in this methodology. She has authored three books, a 24 episode nationally produced PBS health series video/CD called “BodyWatch”. Her lifelong passion is to train teachers in The BodySense Method to allow them to then help their students increase concentration for testing, manage anger, improve agility, limit stress, avoid the scourge of scoliosis, foster better body image, reduce backpack injury and much more. Testimonial:
I was introduced to Sue's program by attending a BodySense Yoga PDP instructor's workshop at her fitness facility in 1999. I not only gained personal satisfaction from the program but also viewed it as an opportunity to incorporate the program into my high school Physical Education curriculum. BodySense highlights the wellness component of my PE curriculum. It is adaptable for elementary, middle, high school and faculty/staff participation. The skeletal and muscular systems are emphasized along with relationships of gravity, body alignment and the Power of a Complete Breath .
The BodySense Method is registered with the Massachusetts Department of Education for teachers to qualify for personal development points (PDP). It fits with the Massachusetts Comprehensive Health Curriculum Framework, to assist educators by complementing and maximizing the overall quality of existing health and fitness programs.
