What is BodySense?

The BodySense Method is foremost a discipline of healthy, conscious living.  It captures you by focusing on the intellectual knowledge of your own body.  Students learn to then take responsibility for their own well being.  We all have differing needs and abilities.  You'll un-learn a lifetime of bad habits and gain knowledge of how to remove any obstacles that prevent you from performing at your best.  The body has an inherent wisdom and ability to regain and retain balance.  In essence, you will learn to reprogram, to recapture health.  In BodySense, body and mind is a whole but we treat each person as a unique individual.

Should I start with BodySense before I start Yoga?

Ah, good question!  Without the solid foundation of an understanding correct alignment and the important role it plays in your state of well-being, you naturally tend to seek the path of least resistance, or you go over an "edge" into injury.  By this I mean you may continue to bend and stretch improperly, therefore repeatedly misaligning your body.

First, each person needs to be shown how to feel proper alignment.  From this foundation, you are then able to do the pose correctly in the Yogic perspective.

It is not the pose, it is the process of aligning as you are getting into the pose that is most important.  You learn how not sacrifice alignment for the sake of the pose, thus avoiding injury while building strength.

Do BodySense and Yoga work together?

Of course, read the above answer!  The flow and balance of a BodySensed body is one of control, strength, energy and peace.

What makes your way of working with people special?

Our approach is personalized.  We don't just stand on a platform and do "Simon Says".  Each student is treated individually.  We instill in students tangible curiosity and enthusiastic appreciation for their uniqueness.  This leads to a new relationship with self from a healthy state of mind.  You are entering into a contract with self.  This agreement commands you to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to develop the practice of The BodySense Method, a gift for the rest of your life.  This powerful foundation of structural integrity combined with a complete breath promises balance and vitality.  You enjoy being in your body.  It is now your friend!

What is your method of teaching?

1. You learn how to identify aches, pains, and tension, moving away from them toward healthy alignment and breathing for life.

2. The use of a variety of "props" helps to align and balance the body, which guiding you to find your CORE.  Discover different ways to adjust an exercise to best maintain alignment for you.  In BodySense, one size does not fit all.

3. Proceeding at your own pace, you learn not to sacrifice alignment for the sake of the pose or exercise.  You begin to experience CORE feelings and are thus encouraged through this process of experimentation and growth.  There is no failure.  Positive action leads to observable results!

4. Through The BodySense Method we embrace life.  BodySense is subtle in its alignment, strong in its control, precise in its execution.  It is our birthright!
